He met Cesar Ernesto Buezo, the son of a family of coffee farmers, who had spent his whole life near his family’s coffee trees, but until now, had not appreciated the taste of coffee or his potential as a coffee farmer. But by taking part in NESCAFÉ’s youth initiative, his attitude changed.

“The biggest progress for me was simply observing a cup of the coffee I was producing.” he reports. “Tasting it, getting to know the different flavors, reading about the colors and textures… everything was completely new.” Globally, less than 5% of coffee farmers are under 35 years old, as it is a profession that is not a preference for many young people.

Given a growing, global gap between the generations involved in coffee production, NESCAFÉ coffee is trying to show young people the reasons why it is worth staying in the industry and envisioning their own coffee-related future.
